Fall grouper/wahoo fishing in full swing!

Monday, November 28, 2011

Well its a little late but it feels like fall fishing is here.  We have been doing a lot of bottom fishing lately and the fishing is great!  The best part about the bottom fishing is that it is good as close as 8 to 10 miles off the beach.  The nearshore bite is all gags and all the sea bass you want while the farther offshore you get the scamps and red grouper are biting good as well.  In addition to the groupers, there is an assortment of other bottom critters to catch including sea bass, triggers, grunts, and snappers.  The gulf stream fishing is good as well.  Wahoo, blackfin tuna, and sailfissh are biting good with the occasional mahi thrown in.  I’ve added some pictures to the photo page so check them out to see what we’ve been catching.

Bonita Fishing is on Fire!!!

Thursday, April 21, 2011

The bonita fishing finally took off last week and they are here in full force.  The little tuna are a blast to catch and great for the table and the best thing is its easily doable on a half day trip.  We target them by casting small jigs or trolling.  These guys are only a couple miles off the beach and fight hard, especially on light spinning gear.  I fished for them everyday last week averaging 10-15 a day as well as all the bluefish you can stand.  Its nonstop action start to finish!  In addition to that the gulf stream fishing has been awesome with plenty of wahoo and blackfin tuna and the first few mahis showing up.  Jig and topwater bite is still hot and trolling is great as well.  The weekend weather looks like its gonna be great.  Sunny, warm, and calm seas right on through the middle of next week so come on down to Wrightsville Beach and get in on some of this action.

Wrightsville Beach Jigging is HOT!!!!

Saturday, April 02, 2011

Just a little update on the fishing here at Wrightsville Beach.  Jigging is the name of the game right now and it is off the hook!  We made it out a few days ago and the fishing was as good as you could ever want.  Matt, Robert and myself left the dock about 6am headed for the promised land and once again there was no disappointment when we arrived.  We started the morning out looking for tuna and they were happy to oblige.  After a few quick drifts we had 6 nice fat blackfins on ice.  When that bite slowed we made a move inshore and it was on like donkey kong.  It was a fish on every drop until you couldn’t stand it anymore.  We ended the day with a mixed bag of everything but the final tally that ended up in the fish box was 6 nice blackfins and 6 nice cobia one of which went 58lbs.  If you want to get a crack at this give me a call!  Sorry no pictures today but we were too busy catching fish!
