Bluefin Jigging Hatteras, NC
Friday, February 25, 2011
Headed up to Hatteras yesterday to get in on some of the bluefin tuna jigging and popping and we weren’ t disappointed. We made the easy 25 mile run to the grounds and started looking for signs of tuna. It didn’t take long and we had our first hook up. Glenn fought the fish for a while and at the last minute the fish broke off and lived to fight another day. We continued to search and at about 11 we had our first hook up on the jig. Chris had the fish to the boat in short order and we had our keeper on ice. It was all catch and release after that. We ended up landing 4 more fish one of which was a fat 72 incher. If you want some of this insane bluefin action give me a call!

February Jigging Wrightsville Beach
Monday, February 14, 2011
We finally got to go fishing last week and despite the rain we were rewarded with a spectacular day of jigging! Myself, Capt. Rick, Capt. Arlen and Matt left the dock at at 5:30 and we arrived at the first spot the bite was on from the very first drop. We started out looking for african pompano and cobia. The pompano didn’t show but we did have all the amberjacks you wanted plus a couple cobia and some grouper which unfortunately had to go back. We mjoved offshore a bit and the blackfin tuna bite was on. We ended the day with 16 big fat blackfins with most over 20 pounds including six over thirty. We made one more stop on the way in and the triggerfish were chewin’. After we added a few of those to the fishbox we had a nice easy cruise home. It was a great day on the water so if you want to experience some of this nonstop action give me a call!

9/25 Wrightsville Beach Bottom Fishing

We had Mike and Crew from Jacksonville in town for some grouper fishing. We left the inlet to find conditions a little worse than expected but we took our time getting there and we weren’t disappointed. I set the anchor and the baits went down. WHAM! one hook up followed shortly by another and then another with the end result of three keeper gag grouper on the deck. Not a bad start considering we had our limit in 5 minutes. we hit a few other spots looking for some different species and were greeted by hungry grouper at every spot. After pulling on as many of those as we could stand, we moved into the beach and ended the day with a couple spanish and a bunch of bluefish. It was another stellar day here at Wrightsville Beach. The grouper are chewing so come on and get you some!
